Does BALUG booth at LinuxWorld in the .org pavillion? If so we need to act quickly by 5/26. Hi Danny: Balug events are open to the public and you are of course welcome to attend. I'd be happy to talk with you about sponsorship, but this idea gets brought up from time to time and there generally hasn't been a lot of interest in the past. I/we are running a bit behind. Anyone have (mini-)bio and/or text blurbs for our upcoming speaker? For "announce" - I plan to put that out *soon* - like not later than tomorrow A.M. Anything else to include in the next "announce"? I'll probably also include a reminder about LugRadio Live USA 2008, and additional upcoming speakers. Anything else to add? Yes, you too can help BALUG! :-) How about (mini-)bio writeups for additional upcoming speakers (for use on web page(s), in announcement(s), etc.), and if/when available, synopsis/brief/outline of what their talk/presentation will cover. If those materials are gotten to balug-webmaster(a)balug.org (and balug-speaker-coordinators(a)balug.org) sooner, we can get them up, and out, publicized, etc., sooner.

Need Some Event Help w/ Shuttleworth

Hi Folks: can anyone get to BALUG tomorrow night by 6:15pm to help out? Specifically, I could use some help at the door collecting cash and handing out name tags. We are officially at 92 RSVPs, which is nearly double the normal attendance so I'd like to setup two cash & name tag stations so that we don't create a huge logjam to get in. Also, if you're handy with a camera, come and snap some pics... it would be great to document Shuttleworth at BALUG. -Andrew

I am in favor of doing this, but suggest we do it at a later meeting. We may have a sellout crowd, which is going to mean more moving parts and I don't think this is the right meeting to add complexity. Thats said, I have a couple of suggestions to consider: 1)drop location... we aren't changing it so no need to ask 2)split #2 on food/cost into two seperate questions... did you like the food & was it a good value 3)questions #3 through #9 feel like they overlap. also, I'm not sure if they really provide value to balug. Our goal is not to improve our speaker's slides or public speaking ability, but rather provide speakers that our members find interesting.
